Weight Room & Speed Development

Welcome to the brand new weight room and new speed development area at Decatur Central High School. The new weight room is just under 6,500 ft square feet. The main feature in the room is an elevated desk used for supervision. The desk is 15x15 and stands three and half feet off the ground. The facility has a total of twenty-four stations for the three core lifts performed in the program. The core lifts that we use are the bench, squat, and power clean. There are a total of fifty-six other stations used in conjunction with our core lifts. In addition, the room has eight adjustable benches and two flat benches. We use VTX metal grip plates, Intek rubber hex dumbbells, and Kraiburg rubber bumper plates. The room also has fourteen pieces of cardio equipment. The program uses a seven minute rotational system and rotates using an auto coach clock.

The new speed development area is located behind the bleachers in the main gym balcony. The area has fifty sets of dots and six ladders that are used during athletic enhancement day or used after we double lift after school.

Check out the pictures of our facilities below.
